Seaweed Forging walks

Find Forage and Feast - Seaweed Discovery Workshop with John Firzgerald of Atlantic Irish seaweed.

You will start at the seaweed discovery centre in Caherdaniel village with a cup of seaweed infused tea and some sea veg snacks while viewing a slideshow introduction to our most commonly used seaweeds. You will also learn how the tides work and when seaweeds are most reachable.

Next it’s off to the nearby shore for a low tide guided walk where you will forage, find and identify several of the seaweeds you viewed earlier. Some seaweeds will be eaten fresh from the rocks as you learn how to sustainably harvest, dry and store these plentiful superfoods. Coastal plants will also be foraged and fresh nibbles can often be sampled. On returns to base a tasting lunch with a vast range of seaweed dishes will be savoured with ‘live’ beverages such as seaweed and fruit Kefirs and Kombuchas.

Workshops €55 per person. Advance Booking is required.
