Come March, Spring has truly sprung in Kerry. And there’s a whole raft of events celebrating the coming of warmer and lighter weather. Here’s our pick of the bunch to visit Parknasilla in March.
1. – We are open!
Yes, we re-open on the 4th March after our annual closure and boy oh boy! – a lot has happened in those short 8 weeks! Improvements in the Bar & Lounge……Full Carpet re-fit…. Corridors refurbished. We are impressed and we are sure that you will be too!

2. Feile Neidin - Kenmare Irish Music Festival
A fantastic celebration of Irish music, song and dance in the beautiful setting of Kenmare town, featuring the cream of Irish traditional and folk artists. Kenmare is only a 25 minute drive from the resort – Festival runs from the 31st March to 3rd April
3. St Patricks Day Parade – Sneem
St. Patrick's Day (17th March – in case you forget!) in Sneem is a traditional Fair Day and the Parade is the highlight for the people of Sneem and the surrounding area. Work is underway on floats, full of black humour and colour. There is plenty of prizes to be won including a prize for the Best Dressed Spectator.
The parade starts at 12.30 in Galvin's Yard and the prize giving will take place after the parade.
What is not to love about Easter! This Easter, however, the kids have almost 3 whole weeks to enjoy all that Kerry & Parknasilla has to offer, including our annual Easter Egg hunt for hotel guests on Easter Sunday 27th March – What better than our magnificent 500 acres to explore to find some beautiful chocolate!
If you fancy your hand at making some then we suggest heading to Lorge Chocolatier in Bonane – Have fun with Benoit Lorge, award winning chef, Go and participate in their children and family chocolate making workshop in Lorge’s factory and discover the passion of chocolate and share the fun together. Learn the history and origin of chocolate before getting stuck into dipping, moulding and making!
Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes – 2 hours
Cost: €17 per person. For children 5+
These yummy chocolates & courses can be found in Bonane, just 10 km from Kenmare on the Glengarriff road.
Alternatively, take a spin to the beautiful Skelligs Chocolate factory. They are a family business based at St. Finians’s Bay overlooking the magnificent Skelligs Rocks. They welcome visitors to their new open plan factory and see the chocolates being created, taste the freshly made delights and learn more about chocolate.
Make sure you stop at the café before you leave for some yummy chocs & a hot chocolate – what better!!
5. Mothers Day – March 6th
We at Parknasilla love our Mums and what better way to treat her than a fantastic stay at Parknasilla. Indulge in some well-deserved RnR in our beautiful Elemis & Neom Spa, take a dip in the ocean view pool & chill out in the outdoor hot-tubs overlooking the sea.
