For years, the name ‘Parknasilla’ has been synonymous with four-star, luxury accommodation and first-class holiday experiences. Nestled in the breath-taking Kerry mountains and bounded by seashore, our location is esteemed not only for its beauty but for its prime position on the Wild Atlantic Way, The Ring of Kerry and The Beara Peninsula.
Purpose-built in 1897, our historic, manor-house hotel is imbued with the elegance of bygone days and the sophistication of modern times. The Victorian-era décor lends an air of nostalgia and romance to this intimate space but so do the crackling open fires that dot our ground floor. This old-world charm is offset by contemporary comforts and luxuries, including newly-refurbished bedrooms and technological conveniences.
Parknasilla Hotel is situated on a high plateau of land that overlooks the Kenmare Bay and provides panoramic views of the Caha Mountains. From this lofty position, the mercurial Atlantic Ocean offers a sense of space and ease while the surrounding woodlands are a welcome shelter and sanctuary of sub-tropical lushness that the incoming Gulf Stream affords.
We also have self-catering options for guests whose circumstance require more flexibility. A stone’s throw away from the hotel, The Courtyard Lodges consist of twenty-four, two-bedroom houses set around a cosy courtyard. A few minutes further away, through a private, tree-lined avenue, you will find our Woodland Villas, a cluster of thirty-eight, three-bedroom houses, each with their own private outdoor terrace.
At Parknasilla Resort, there is so much to see and do on our 500-acre estate. You can choose to enjoy it in your own company or in the company of others. Immerse yourself in the beauty of our natural surroundings as you go on one of our mapped walks, or take to the hills with a picnic. Take a boat ride out on the bay or try kayaking, archery, tennis or cycling. For golf lovers, we have a 12-hole golf course for you to take a swing at, but give yourself plenty of time because the spectacular sea and mountain views surrounding the course will continuously draw you in.
We have also created special activities for the children, including the Fairy Trail where the little ones can delight in discovering tiny fairy houses hidden amongst the trees. For a special experience, PJ’s Treasure Trail will create great excitement as the kids follow a map of clues that our long-serving staff member and local knowledge expert, PJ, has left for them to follow.
If your ideal day is to pamper and indulge yourself, then The Spa at Parknasilla Hotel is second to none. Retreat into our underground sanctuary for a relaxing treatment, detox in our Thermal Suite with its heat and hydrotherapy facilities or take a swim in the pool. Unwind in one of our outdoor hot tubs where you can kick back and enjoy the sunlight and the sea breeze surrounding this Kenmare Bay hotel.
Spending time at Parknasilla Hotel and Resort means reconnecting with nature as you witness its beauty all around, feel its healing benefits at The Spa and delight in the taste and nourishment of its bounty on your plate when you dine with us. Sharing a meal together is one of life’s pleasures and you will savour the fresh, delicious taste of the artisan and locally-produced ingredients that we use when preparing our menus. Enjoy a bistro-style lunch in The Dolittle Bar or reserve a table at The Pygmalion restaurant for a formal meal that is truly special, not only for the quality of the food but for the sunset views over Kenmare Bay.
Parknasilla is unique among hotels. It offers a haven for those who wish to retreat from the world for a while but it is also the ideal place to set yourself free to roam and explore. Over the years, we have welcomed guests from all walks of life and with various reasons for choosing us as their ideal location. Our wish for every one of our guests is to feel the warmth of our open fires, the warmth of reconnecting with yourself and others and above all, the hearty warmth of our welcome.
